A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM VICE
MAYOR REGGIE LEON’S SPECIAL EVENTS ACCOUNT IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS
($1,000.00), TO SUPPORT THE MIAMI-DADE NAACP YOUTH
COUNCIL; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade NAACP Youth Council is the local presence of the
nation’s oldest (founded 1909) and largest civil rights organization, functioning as a
member of the Florida State Conference of Branches carrying out the policies of the
National Association; and
WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade NAACP Youth Council is a civic organization
committed to insuring the political, educational, social, and economic equality of minority
groups and citizens, and
WHEREAS, the NAACP Youth Council is dedicated to developing young leaders
who will one day serve in an entity and create or change policies and procedures that end
systemic racism and ensure equality of rights for all, and
WHEREAS, in an effort to increase membership and awareness and to improve
the quality of life and development for our youth, as well as to impact the lives of the
residents in our community, Vice Mayor Reggie Leon is requesting a sponsorship not to
exceed the amount of $1,000.00 from his Special Events Account to support the Miami-
Dade NAACP Youth Council organization, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby allocates funds from Seat 2 Special Events Account for One Thousand Dollars
($1,000.00), to support the Miami-Dade NAACP Youth Council organization.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON SEPTEMBER 14, 2022.
