A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM VICE
MAYOR REGGIE LEON’S SPECIAL EVENTS ACCOUNT IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED THIRTEEN HUNDRED DOLLARS
($1,300.00), TO SUPPORT THE LAMPLIGHTERS PROGRAM,
LAMPLIGHTERS 305, SIGMA ALPHA CHAPTER OF THE
OMEGA PSI PHI FRATERNITY, INC.; PROVIDING FOR THE
ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS;PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Lamplighters Program, Lamplighters 305, Sigma Alpha chapter of
the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., started in 1995, the organization stands for cultivating
academic excellence and brotherhood to young men between the ages of 12-18. The
young men learn financial literacy, proper etiquette, social skills, and gain exposure to
new and exciting events, and
WHEREAS, the Lamplighters Program, Lamplighters 305, Sigma Alpha chapter
of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., mainly focuses on economic development,
educational development, international awareness and involvement, physical and mental
health, and political awareness and involvement, and
WHEREAS, in an effort to increase membership and awareness and to improve
the quality of life and development for our youth, as well as to impact the lives of the
residents in our community, Vice Mayor Reggie Leon is requesting a sponsorship not to
exceed the amount of $1,300.00 from his Special Events Account in support of the
Lamplighters Program, Lamplighters 305, Sigma Alpha chapter of the Omega Psi Phi
Fraternity, Inc.,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby allocates funds from Seat 2 Special Events Account for Thirteen Hundred Dollars
($1,300.00), to support the Lamplighters Program, Lamplighters 305, Sigma Alpha
chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
