A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM VICE
MAYOR REGGIE LEON’S SPECIAL EVENTS ACCOUNT IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FIFTEEN HUNDRED DOLLARS
($1,500.00), TO SUPPORT THE MIAMI-DADE BRANCH OF THE
NAACP FUNDRAISING GALA; PROVIDING FOR THE
ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS;PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade Branch of the NAACP is the local presence of the
nation’s oldest (founded 1909) and largest civil rights organization, functioning as a
member of the Florida State Conference of Branches carrying out the policies of the
National Association; and
WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade Branch of the NAACP continues its work to achieve
equality of rights and eliminate racial prejudice among citizens of the United States, and
WHEREAS, the Miami-Dade Branch of the NAACP is dedicated to developing
leaders who will one day serve in an entity and create or change policies and procedures
that end systemic racism and ensure equality of rights for all, and
WHEREAS, in an effort to increase membership and awareness and to improve
the quality of life and development for our youth, as well as to impact the lives of the
residents in our community, Vice Mayor Reggie Leon is requesting a sponsorship not to
exceed the amount of $1,500.00 from his Special Events Account to support the Miami-
Dade Branch of the NAACP Fundraising Gala, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby allocates funds from Seat 2 Special Events Account for Fifteen Hundred Dollars
($1,500.00), to support The Miami-Dade Branch of the NAACP Fundraising Gala.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON SEPTEMBER 14, 2022.
