A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS,FLORIDA, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM
SPECIALAFFAIRS PUBLIC HARRIS’ RODNEYMAYOR
EVENTS ACCOUNT IN AN AMOUNT OF THREE THOUSAND
DOLLARS ($3,000.00) TO SUPPORT A COMMUNITY
THANKSGIVING DINNER; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION
OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, Mayor Rodney Harris and the City of Miami Gardens will host a
Thanksgiving Community dinner, Thursday, November 17, 2022, from 5:30 pm – 8:00
pm, and
WHEREAS, the event will be hosted at the Betty T. Ferguson Recreational
Complex - Auditorium, located at 3000 NW 199th Street Miami Gardens, FL 33056, and
WHEREAS, the anticipation is to serve 200 nutritional meals to the community,
bringing the tradition of the Thanksgiving holiday season to families and individuals in
need, and
WHEREAS, research suggests, approximately 949,910 people in South Florida
are food deprived, and nearly 29 percent of these residents do not qualify for Federal
nutrition/ benefit programs and have to rely on emergency programs to help meet their
basic needs, and
WHEREAS, Mayor Rodney Harris is proud to be able to help stand in the gap for
these struggling individuals and families who often times do not know where their next
meal is coming from, and
WHEREAS, if this item is successfully passed and adopted, ($3000.00) three
thousand dollars will be deducted from Mayor Rodney Harris' Public Affairs Special
events account,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorize the allocation not to exceed ($3000.00) Three Thousand Dollars to
support the City of Miami Gardens Community Thanksgiving dinner.

Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.

GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON OCTOBER 26, 2022.
