A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, APPOINTING COUNCIL MEMBER
KATRINA WILSON TO SERVE AS VICE MAYOR FOR A TWO
YEAR TERM; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 2.1(B) of the City’s Charter, the City
Council is to select a Vice Mayor to serve during the absence or incapacity of the Mayor
for a single term of two years, unless he or she vacates their elected position, and
WHEREAS, during the absence or incapacity of the Mayor, the Vice Mayor shall
have all the powers, authority, duties, and responsibilities of the Mayor, and
WHEREAS, Council Member Reggie Leon has diligently served as Vice Mayor for
the past two years, as his term ends on December 9, 2022, and
WHEREAS, Mayor Rodney Harris is recommending, that Council Member Katrina
Wilson be appointed to serve as the City’s Vice Mayor, and
WHEREAS, this item will be presented at the Council meeting scheduled for
Wednesday, October 26, 2022, due to the fact that there will be no Council meetings held
for the month of November 2022, and
WHEREAS, if this item successfully pass and adopted by the City Council, the
appointment of Council Member Katrina Wilson to serve as the City's Vice Mayor will take
effect on Friday, December 9, 2022, for a two year term,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: APPOINTMENT: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens hereby
appoints Council Member Katrina Wilson to serve as Vice Mayor for the City of Miami
Gardens for a two-year term.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON OCTOBER 26, 2022.
