A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, RATIFYING THE “DECLARATION
OF A LOCAL EMERGENCY” IMPOSED BY THE MAYOR ON
SEPTEMBER 26, 2022, DUE TO HURRICANE IAN; PROVIDING
FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Gardens faces dangerous conditions of sufficient
severity and magnitude to warrant coordinated local government action to prevent or
alleviate the damage, loss, hardship, or suffering threatened or caused thereby, and
WHEREAS, Governor Ron DeSantis declared a State of Emergency for several
counties within the State of Florida, including Miami-Dade County, due to the threat of
impending Hurricane Ian, and
WHEREAS, on September 26, 2022, Mayor Rodney Harris declared a Local
Emergency for the City of Miami Gardens due to the threat of Hurricane Ian, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: RATIFICATION OF THE DECLARATION OF A LOCAL EMERGENCY:
The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens hereby ratifies the “Declaration of a Local
Emergency” imposed by Mayor Rodney Harris on September 26, 2022, attached hereto
as Exhibit “A”.
Section 3: AUTHORIZATION OF CITY MANAGER: The City Manager is hereby
authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate the terms of this Resolution.
Section 4: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON OCTOBER 12, 2022.
