A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS,FLORIDA, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM
COUNCILMAN STEPHENS’ SPECIAL EVENTS ACCOUNT IN
AN SIXTHOUSANDTWO NOT TO AMOUNT EXCEED
HUNDRED TWENTY-SIX DOLLARS AND NINETY-ONE CENTS
($2,626.91) IN SUPPORT OF JBARNETT ENTERPRISES’ “JUST
HEAL, BRO” MENTAL HEALTH SPEAKER SERIES AT THE
ORANGE BLOSSOM CLASSIC, NUNC PRO TUNC; PROVIDING
FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION
OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, Jay Barnett is a former professional football player-turned-marriage &
family therapist, author, motivational speaker, and life coach, and
WHEREAS, the Orange Blossom Classic is an annual college football game and
fan experience held in the city of Miami Gardens between Florida A&M University and
Jackson State University, and
WHEREAS, JBarnett Enterprises has created, “Just Heal, Bro”, a journal to help
men from all walks of life discover their voice and express their thoughts through
journaling, and
WHEREAS, the “Just Heal, Bro” journal and the Orange Blossom Classic Mental
Health Symposium provided a safe space for members and staff of the Florida A&M
University football team, to process their deepest fears, beginning with self, and discover
freedom as they penned their thoughts using the lessons and strategies learned on the
field into meaningful lessons for life, and
WHEREAS, Councilman Stephens is requesting the allocation of Two Thousand
Six Hundred Twenty-Six Dollars and Ninety-One Cents ($2,626.91) from the Seat 6
Special Events account to support JBarnett Enterprises’ “Just Heal, Bro” Mental Health
Speaker Series at the Orange Blossom Classic, nunc pro tunc.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the allocation of Two Thousand Six Hundred Twenty-Six Dollars and
Resolution No. 2022-131-3842

Ninety-One Cents ($2,626.91) from the Seat 6 Special Events Account to support
JBarnett Enterprises’ “Just Heal, Bro” Mental Health Speaker Series at the Orange
Blossom Classic, nunc pro tunc.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON SEPTEMBER 28, 2022.
