A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS,FLORIDA, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM
COUNCILMAN STEPHENS’ SPECIAL EVENTS ACCOUNT IN
AN NINEHUNDRED SEVEN NOT TO AMOUNT EXCEED
IN SUPPORT ($709.01) OFONEANDDOLLARS CENT
GRANDPARENTS RAISING GRANDCHILDREN ASSOCIATION,
INCORPORATED FOR THEIR “APPRECIATION BRUNCH”
OFADOPTIONTHE FORTUNC; PRO NUNC PROVIDING
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.;
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Association, Inc. (GRGA) is a
nonprofit organization in South Florida that helps provide resources and support for
grandparents and elder care givers who manage the primary responsibility of caring for
their grandchildren or young kin, and
WHEREAS, the goal is to connect and secure resources to equip these
grandparents and caregivers with tools to raise the next generation, and
WHEREAS, Flora M. Johnson, affectionately called Ms. Johnson, began GRGA in
2012 as a support system and network for grandparents who were serving as primary
caregivers and support systems for single-parent and missing-parent households in her
community, and
WHEREAS, this event celebrated grandparents as well as provided a scholarship
and appreciation resources to families from Happy Endings of Miami, Incorporated, and
WHEREAS, Councilman Stephens is requesting the allocation of Seven Hundred
Nine Dollars and One Cent ($709.01) from the Seat 6 Special Events account to support
Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Association, Incorporated’s “Appreciation Brunch”,
nunc pro tunc.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the allocation of Seven Hundred Nine Dollars and One Cent ($709.01)
from the Seat 6 Special Events Account to support Grandparents Raising Grandchildren
Association, Incorporated’s “Appreciation Brunch”, nunc pro tunc.

Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON SEPTEMBER 28, 2022.
