A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS,FLORIDA, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM
COUNCILWOMAN LINDA JULIEN'S SPECIAL EVENTS
ACCOUNT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FOUR HUNDRED
AND MIAMIFOR ($491.00), NINETY ONE DOLLARS
FOUNDATION’S ANNUAL GIVE MIAMI DAY; PROVIDING FOR
ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS;PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, one of the nation's biggest 24-hour annual giving events, Give Miami
Day is an online campaign where all locals are philanthropists, and
WHEREAS, the entire community is invited to explore the online profiles of
hundreds of Miami-Dade nonprofits that, with limited resources and staff, always find a
way to provide the supplies, services and support our residents need, and
WHEREAS, since 2012, Give Miami Day has raised millions of dollars in charitable
donations. The Miami Foundation hosts the annual online initiative as part of its mission
to increase local philanthropy and provide community engagement opportunities for every
Miamian. Established in 1967, the Foundation partners with donors to champion their
causes and improve quality of life in Greater Miami. It takes leadership on civic issues,
invests in the community and nurtures philanthropy at all levels, and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Julien is requesting an allocation of four hundred and
ninety one dollars ($491) from the Seat 5 Special Events account for Give Miami Day,
and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby supports allocation of funds from Councilwoman Julien’s Special Events Account
in the amount of four hundred and ninety one dollars ($491) for Give Miami Day.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON SEPTEMBER 28, 2022.
