A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS ENCOURAGING THE FLORIDA
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (FDOT), MIAMI-DADE
EXPRESSWAY AUTHORITY (MDX), SOUTH FLORIDA WATER
MANAGEMENT AND ANY AND ALL ENTITIES RESPONSIBLE
FOR THE CLEANING AND PLANTING OF THE LANDSCAPING
AREAS ON SR-826 (PALMETTO EXPRESSWAY) AND ALL ON
RAMP AREAS, TO CLEAN AND MAINTAIN THE AREAS ALONG
SR-826; PROVIDING FOR INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CLERK;
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS;
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) contractors are
responsible for maintaining the roadway and removing debris, litter and maintaining
landscaping, and
WHEREAS, despite FDOT and other agencies having campaigns on littering and
maintaining the aesthetic look on all FDOT roads as well as encouraging drivers to take
responsibility andcontinues debris, and litteringtocontributions their for litter
maintenance of landscaping has been neglected; and
WHEREAS, despite constant requests by the City for the cleanup of SR-826 and
maintenance andlitteringtheaddress tolandscapeFDOT’s area, theof efforts
landscaping problems has not been the departments priority to date, and
WHEREAS, the City is encouraging FDOT, MDX, and all entities responsible for
the cleaning and planting of the landscaping areas on SR-826 and all on ramp areas to
cooperate with our efforts in cleaning up the City, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens is
hereby directing the City Clerk to send a copy of this resolution encouraging the Florida
Department of Transportation (FDOT), Miami-Dade Expressway Authority (MDX), South
Florida Water Management, and any and all entities responsible for the cleaning and
planting of the landscaping areas on SR-826 (palmetto expressway) and all on ramp
areas, to clean and maintain the areas along SR-826.

Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.

GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON DECEMBER 14, 2022.
