A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM
COUNCILMAN STEPHENS’ SPECIAL EVENTS/ PUBLIC
AFFAIRS ACCOUNT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED ONE
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1,000) IN SUPPORT OF THE BETA
BETA LAMBDA CHAPTER’S KNIGHTS OF GOLD MENTORING
PROGRAM; OF ADOPTION THE FOR PROVIDING
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, The Beta Beta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity,
Incorporated along with the Beta Beta Lambda Alpha Phi Alpha Educational Foundation,
Incorporated oversees and operates the Knights of Gold (KOG) Mentoring Program for
high school freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors, and
WHEREAS, The Knights of Gold (KOG) Mentoring Program is conducted
alongside the fraternity’s National Program “Go to High School, Go to College”, and is
geared toward motivating students from underserved communities to continue their
education while helping those students succeed in high school and college, and
WHEREAS, as a service-based community organization, their core programs
focus on youth and education, community development, and supporting local initiatives
that strengthens the community around us, and
WHEREAS, The Knights of Gold (KOG) Mentoring Program includes workshops
on topics for success such as goal setting, time management, career choices, financial
aid, study skills, interviewing skills, college life experiences, test - taking skills, financial
responsibility, managing money, and social outings, and
WHEREAS, Councilman Stephens is requesting the allocation of One Thousand
Dollars ($1,000.00) from the Seat 6 Special Events/Public Affairs account to support the
Beta Beta Lambda Chapter’s Knights of Gold Mentoring Program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the allocation of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) from the Seat 6
Special Events/Public Affairs Account to support the Beta Beta Lambda Chapter’s Knights
of Gold Mentoring Program.

Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.

GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON DECEMBER 14, 2022.
