A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS,FLORIDA, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM
PUBLICEVENTS/ SPECIALSTEPHENS’ COUNCILMAN
AFFAIRS ACCOUNT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FIVE
HUNDRED DOLLARS ($500) IN SUPPORT OF THE RAPHA
CENTER’S “CODE RED” WORLD AIDS DAY CELEBRATION;
PROVIDING FOR INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CITY CLERK;
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, World AIDS Day is designated on the 1st of December every year
since 1988 as an international day dedicated to raising awareness of the AIDS pandemic
and mourning those who have died of the disease, and
WHEREAS, the Rapha Center is a community-based HIV/AIDS prevention and
intervention agency that has adopted a holistic approach to the services offered to
disadvantaged populations of men and women who are infected or affected by HIV, and
WHEREAS, the services provided are streamlined to address not just the physical
impact of the disease but also the mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of the disease,
and
WHEREAS, “Code Red” is The Rapha Center’s collaborative community event to
celebrate World Aids Day, honor community influencers, and assist in bringing awareness
to ending HIV/AIDS in South Florida, and
WHEREAS, Councilman Robert Stephens, III is requesting funding from the Seat
6 Special Events/Public Affairs account in the amount of Five Hundred Dollars ($500) to
support the Rapha Center’s “Code Red” celebration commemorating World AIDS Day,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the allocation of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) to the Rapha Center’s
“Code Red” Gala commemorating World AIDS Day from the Seat 6 Special Events/Public
Affairs account.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
