A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING ONE THOUSAND
DOLLARS ($1,000) FROM VICE MAYOR KATRINA WILSON’S
PUBLIC AFFAIRS ACCOUNT TO SUPPORT THE 7TH ANNUAL
DISTRICT 1 BLACK HISTORY SHOWCASE; PROVIDING FOR
THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, children are the future of our world, making education crucial for them,
and
WHEREAS, good schools with strong academic and extracurricular programming
create the best opportunities for students to reach their highest potential, and
WHEREAS, Vice Mayor Katrina Wilson believes in empowering students to grow,
learn, and strive for a brighter future by investing and supporting our school aged children
and the schools they attend in the City of Miami Gardens, and
WHEREAS, This year, School Board Member Dr. Steve Gallon, III will sponsor the
7th Annual District 1 Black History Showcase, and
WHEREAS, this showcase has provided an avenue for students to display to the
community their academic growth and development using oration, dance, culture and
various other forms of the performing arts as vehicles of expression, and
WHEREAS, Vice Mayor Katrina Wilson is requesting that the City Council
authorize the allocation one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) from the Seat 4 Public Affairs
account in support of the 7th Annual District 1 Black History Showcase.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the allocation one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) from the Seat 4 Public
Affairs account in support of the 7th Annual District 1 Black History Showcase.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
