RESOLUTION NO. 2023-022-7912
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE OFFICE OF
THE CITY CLERK LEGISLATIVE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM;
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENATIONS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Gardens Mayor and City Council supports internship
programs that provide growth and learning opportunities to students in high school,
college, and trade schools, and
WHEREAS, Councilman Robert Stephens recommends the establishment of a
Legislative Internship Program to be managed by the City Clerk, and
WHEREAS, this internship program will be an important component in engaging
the young community of the City of Miami Gardens by developing their understanding of
municipal services, and
WHEREAS, the Legislative Internship Program Policy Manual, attached hereto
exhibit A, is intended to be a guide and is not a substitute to the City’s Charter, Code of
Ordinance, City Policies, or any counsel, guidance, or opinion of the City Attorney.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes The Office of the City Clerk Legislative Internship Program.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON FEBRUARY 8, 2023.
