HomeMy WebLinkAbout2023-031-1921_-_National_Social_Services_Month_-_Adopted.docxRESOLUTION NO. 2023-031-1921 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, RECOGNIZING THE MONTH OF MARCH AS NATIONAL SOCIAL SERVICES MONTH IN THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the primary mission of the social work profession is to enhance human well-being and help meet the basic and complex needs of all people, with a particular focus on those who are vulnerable, oppressed, and living in poverty, and WHEREAS, Social Work Month in March is a time to celebrate the great profession of social work, and WHEREAS, the theme for Social Work Month 2023 is Social Work Breaks Barriers, and WHEREAS, National Social Work Month is an opportunity for social workers across the country to put the spotlight on their profession and highlight the important contribution they make to society, and WHEREAS, Councilwoman Shannan Ighodaro is recommending that the City of Miami Gardens recognize the month of March as National Social Services Month, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens hereby recognizes the month of March as National Social Services Month in the City of Miami Gardens. Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its final passage.
