A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, WAIVING THE COSTS
ASSOCIATED WITH THE USE OF THE SHOWMOBILE, NUNC
PRO TUNC TO MARCH 4, 2023 FOR THE WALT FRAZIER PARK
RENAMING CEREMONY, PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, In support of the Resolution 2022-109-3820, approved by Council on
Wednesday, July 27, 2022 for the Renaming of Miami Carol City Park to the Walt Frazier
Park, the use of the Show Mobile was required for the Renaming Ceremony held on
Saturday, March 4, 2023, and
WHEREAS, Hundreds of attendees representing coaches, professional athletes,
student athletes, elected officials, family, alumni, and residents were in attendance to
celebrate this momentous occasion, and
WHEREAS, Coach Walt Frazier will always be known for his coaching and his
winning record, however, in his own words “I believe my greatest wins were those battles
that I fought and won in changing lives of students and my players who I helped turned
into strong men and women”, and
WHEREAS, Vice Mayor Wilson is requesting the City Council waive all costs
associated with the use of the show mobile nunc pro tunc to March 4, 2023.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes waiver of the fees associated with the usage of the City of Miami
Gardens Showmobile for the Renaming of Carol City Park to Walt Frazier Park nonc pro
tun to March 4, 2022.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON MARCH 22, 2023.
