A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM
COUNCILMAN STEPHENS’ SPECIAL EVENTS/ PUBLIC
AFFAIRS ACCOUNT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED ONE
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1,000) IN SUPPORT OF PROJECT
TRANSFORMING HOPE AND UNIFYING GENERATIONS
INCORPORATED’S END-OF-YEAR SERVICE LEARNING TRIP;
PROVIDING FOR INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CITY CLERK;
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Project T.H.U.G. (Transforming Hope and Unifying Generations)
targets adolescent black males in their Junior year of high school and senior year of
middle school in the Miami-Dade County Public School district, and
WHEREAS, the four pillars that are the essence of their organization are: integrity,
character, service, and uplift, and
WHEREAS, fellows who enter the program participate in an 8-month intensive
program – capped with a service program to graduate, that focuses on what it looks like
to create a well-rounded young man of valor, promoting both education and vocation
through a rather holistic approach, and
WHEREAS, On May 6, 2023, the members of Project T.H.U.G, Inc, current and
alums who are still enrolled in school, will be headed to Tallahassee for a weekend of
exploring post-secondary opportunities, exploring our state capital, and engaging in a
community service project, and
WHEREAS, Councilman Robert Stephens is requesting funds from his Special
Events/ Public Affairs account in the amount of $1,000 to support Project T.H.U.G,
Incorporated’s end-of-year service learning trip.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the allocation of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) from the Seat 6
Special Events/Public Affairs Account to support Project T.H.U.G, Incorporated’s end-of-
year service learning trip.

Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON APRIL 12, 2023.
