A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM
COUNCILMAN STEPHENS’ SPECIAL EVENTS/ PUBLIC
AFFAIRS ACCOUNT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FIVE
HUNDRED DOLLARS ($500) IN SUPPORT OF GIRL SCOUT
TROOP #357 NATIONAL CONVENTION SESSION TRIP;
PROVIDING FOR INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CITY CLERK;
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, for 100 years, Girl Scouts of Tropical Florida has developed girl
leaders of courage, confidence, and character, and
WHEREAS, supported by adult volunteers and mentors right here in our
community, as well as millions of alums around the globe, Girl Scouts lead the way as
they discover who they are and how they can make the future a brighter place, and
WHEREAS, founded in 1923 by the first troop in Coconut Grove, today, Girl Scouts
of Tropical Florida is the leading organization for girl development serving nearly 3,000
girls across every zip code in Miami and the Keys, and
WHEREAS, the 56th National Council Session is the national business meeting
being held on July 18–22, 2023, where delegates from every council across the nation
and USA Girl Scouts Overseas meet to discuss, debate, and vote on issues important to
the Girl Scout Movement, and elect national leaders for the next triennium, and
WHEREAS, Councilman Robert Stephens is requesting funds from his Special
Events/ Public Affairs account in the amount of $500 to support the Girl Scout Troop #357
National Convention Session Trip.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the allocation of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) from the Seat 6
Special Events/Public Affairs Account to support the Girl Scout Troop #357 National
Convention Session Trip.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
