A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO
ACCEPT THAT CERTAIN GRANT FROM THE OFFICE OF
COMMUNITY PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT, U.S.
DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT
FOR THE ACCEPTANCE OF THE COMMUNITY PROJECT
FUNDING/CONGRESSIONALLY DIRECTED SPENDING
GRANT (B-23-CP-FL-0441) IN THE AMOUNT OF SEVEN
HUNDRED-FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($750,000.00) FOR
REPETITIVE LOSSES - DRAINAGE PROJECTS; AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A GRANT AGREEMENT
AND ANY AND ALL AGREEMENTS AND ATTENDANT
DOCUMENTS AS A RESULT OF THIS GRANT PROCESS;
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATION;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Gardens has been awarded a grant through the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)- Economic Development
Initiative Community Project Funding to use for repetitive loss drainage improvement
projects in the City, and
WHEREAS, the goal of the repetitive loss improvement projects is to eliminate
and/or minimize the existing flooding problems and future potential loss of homes
identified by FEMA for having continuous insurance claims for internal damages due to
water going inside the home during storms, and
WHEREAS, the total grant award is Seven Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars
($750,000.00), and
WHEREAS, Staff recommends that the City Council approve this Resolution
authorizing the City Manager and City Clerk to execute and attest that certain agreement
for the acceptance of this award with the Office of Community Planning and Development,
U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the City to accept that certain grant from the Office of Community
Planning and Development, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in the
amount of Seven Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollar ($750,000.00), and authorizes the

City Manager to execute a grant agreement and any and all agreements and attendant
documents as a result of this grant process.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.

GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON APRIL 12, 2023.
