A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, RECONIZING APRIL AS
NATIONAL FAIR HOUSING MONTH; PROVIDING FOR
ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Linda Julien recognizes the importance of having
quality and equitable housing options in the City of Miami Gardens, and
WHEREAS, the month of April is widely recognized as National Fair Housing
Month, and
WHEREAS, for 55 years, the Fair Housing Act has reaffirmed that discrimination
in housing is illegal, and
WHEREAS, the Act prohibits discrimination in housing because of race, color,
national origin, religion, sex, disability, and familial status, and
WHEREAS, advocacy groups, governments and citizens are encourage to reflect
on the importance and necessity of fair housing, especially in April.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby recognizes April as National fair Housing Month.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON APRIL 26, 2023.
