A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA ALLOCATING FUNDS TO THE
YOUTH DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO
EXCEED TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS ($2,000) FROM MAYOR
RODNEY HARRIS’ SPECIAL EVENTS ACCOUNT; PROVIDING
FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Mayor Rodney Harris would like to allocate two thousand dollars
($2,000.00) to the Youth Development Institute (YDI) which is 501(c)(3), charitable
organization located in the City of Miami Gardens, and
WHEREAS, the vision of YDI is to transforms communities one student at a time,
the organization prepares students to be prosperous and self-sufficient, and
WHEREAS, YDI has provided summer camp activities to youth in the City of Miami
Gardens at Gardens Vista that comprise of 143 apartment units for low-income residents,
and
WHEREAS, this free 8-week summer camp provides free breakfast and lunch,
games, training in communication, leadership, financial literacy and social skills for youth
residing at Gardens Vista, and
WHEREAS, Mayor Rodney Harris would like to support YDI's upcoming 2023
summer camp programming at the Gardens Vista apartments, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby support the Youth Development Institute (YDI) 2023 summer camp programming
at Gardens Vista apartments located in the City of Miami Gardens.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON MAY 10, 2023.
