A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM
MAYOR RODNEY HARRIS’ PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIAL
EVENTS ACCOUNT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TWO
THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($2,5000), TO FLORIDA
PARENTS OF MURDERED CHILDREN, INC (PMC) FOR THEIR
5TH ANNUAL ALL WHITE PRAYER BREAKFAST TO BE HELD
ON SATURDAY, JUNE 3, 2023; PROVIDING FOR THE
ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, The Florida Parents of Murdered Children is a local organization that
lobbies for state and local legislation to make our communities safer while advocating for
services for families impacted by gun violence, and
WHEREAS, The Florida Parents of Murdered Children's All White Prayer
Breakfast is an annual event, designed to celebrate and uplift the surviving mothers of
children who were victims of senseless gun violence, and
WHEREAS, The event affirms the mothers as strong survivors who must turn their
pain into purpose, and
WHEREAS, Mayor Rodney Harris believes this event is important for the Miami
Gardens community, as sponsorship of this event and support of this organization helps
families emotionally and mentally, and also helps ease the burden of navigating the
challenges faced after a loss for families and children affected, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorize allocating funds from Mayor Rodney Harris’ public affairs special events
account in an amount not to exceed two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,5000), to
Florida Parents of Murdered Children, Inc. for their 5th Annual all White Prayer Breakfast
to be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
