A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, RECONIZING JUNE AS
NATIONAL HOMEOWNERSHIP MONTH; PROVIDING FOR
ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Linda Julien recognizes the importance of having
quality and equitable housing options in the City of Miami Gardens, and
WHEREAS, in 1995, National Homeownership Week began as a strategy of
President William Clinton's administration to increase homeownership across the nation,
and
WHEREAS, in 2002, President George W. Bush expanded the observance to an
entire month, June is widely recognized as National Homeownership Month, and
WHEREAS, this month celebrates the value that owning a home brings to families,
communities, and neighborhoods across America, and
WHEREAS, by becoming a homeowner, people get a step closer to the American
dream, and
WHEREAS, this month also celebrates the joys of being a homeowner, which can
encourage others to achieve the same thing.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby recognizes June as National Homeownership Month.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON JUNE 14, 2023.
