A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM
COUNCILWOMAN SHANNON CAMPBELL’S PUBLIC AFFAIRS
SPECIAL EVENTS ACCOUNT IN THE AMOUNT OF FOUR
THOUSAND FUVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($4,500), NUNC PRO
TUNC, IN SUPPORT THE BAHAS REUNION HELD ON JUNE 4,
2023; PROVIDING FOR INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CITY CLERK;
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Mayor Rodney Harris and Councilwoman Shannon Campbell hosted
City of Miami Gardens 3rd Annual Bahas Reunion, as part of the Black Music Month
celebration on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at Buccaneer Park, and
WHEREAS, city residents, especially those of the long-adored Bahas community,
came to celebrate and enjoy performances of local talent, and
WHEREAS, Black Music Month, also known as African American Music
Appreciation Month, was instituted to recognize and honor the contributions of Black
artists, composers, singers and other musical influences on the nation’s history, and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Shannon Campbell is requesting an allocation of four
thousand five hundred dollars ($4,500) from her Public Affairs Special Events Account to
assist with costs associated with the Bahas Reunion event, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes allocation of four thousand five hundred dollars ($4500) from
Councilwoman Shannon Campbell’s Public Affairs Special Events Account, nunc pro
tunc, to assist with costs associated with the Bahas Reunion event held on June 4, 2023.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON JUNE 14, 2023.
