A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA RATIFYING THE
IMPLEMENTATION OF THE FORMULA ONE YOUTH
EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS IN THE AMOUNT OF FIFTY
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($50,000.00), AND SENIOR HOME
BEAUTIFICATIONS THAT BENEFIT RESIDENTS IN THE
AMOUNT OF ONE HUNDRED AND SEVEN THOUSAND FIVE
HUNDRED AND TWENTY-SEVEN DOLLARS ($107,527.00)
NUN PRO TUNC; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Mayor Rodney Harris and the City of Miami Gardens negotiated a
community benefits program that was affirmed through a Memorandum of Understanding
to directly impact the city’s residents and businesses, Hard Rock Stadium (HRS) and its
affiliate, F1 Miami Grand Prix, committed a total of five million dollars ($5,000,000.00) of
funding to the community benefits programs to be administered by the City, and
WHEREAS, this funding will be provided to the city annually, coinciding with the
F1 Miami Grand Prix’ ten-year term that began in 2022, Mayor Rodney Harris want to
ensure that the annual funding directly benefits residents and businesses here in the city,
and
WHEREAS, the following initiatives and its respective allocation amount were
recommended and implemented through the mayor’s office, which includes F1
Community Scholarship funds in the amount of $50,000.00, and
WHEREAS, with respect to the F1 Senior Home Beautification funds, the City
supported four (4) senior homeowners in the city, on a low fixed income and with
extenuating circumstances in need of pertinent home improvements in the amount of
$107,527.00, eligible project criteria were exterior painting, pressure washing, sod
installation, installation of irrigation system, minor façade repairs, roof repair, tree
trimming, plumbing and windows replacement, and
WHEREAS, at the Wednesday, June 14, 2023, City Council meeting, a Special
presentation video and recap of the services were provided for residents to see F1 Senior
Home Beautification funds at work impacting those who need it the most,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.

Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby ratify the implementation of the Formula One Youth Educational Scholarships and
Senior Home Beautifications in the City of Miami Gardens nun pro tunc.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
