A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, WAIVING ALL FEES
ASSOCIATED WITH THE USAGE OF MYRTLE GROVE PARK,
THE SHOWMOBILE; AND STAFF TO HOST THE 2ND ANNUAL
JAMAICAN PRE-INDEPENDENCE DAY AMATEUR SOCCER
TOURNAMENT. AUTHORIZING IN-KIND SUPPORT FOR THE
EVENT IN THE AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TWO THOUSAND
TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY-TWO DOLLARS ($2,222.00)
FROM THE PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIAL EVENTS ACCOUNT
GENERAL FUND TO COVER COST ASSOCIATED WITH STAFF
COST; ALSO ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM VICE MAYOR
WILSON’S SPECIAL EVENTS ACCOUNT IN THE AMOUNT OF
FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($5,000.00), PROVIDING FOR
INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CITY MANAGER; PROVIDING FOR
THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Soccer, is a sport that captivates millions with its exhilarating action,
skillful displays, and unifying spirit. At its core, soccer is a game of teamwork, strategy,
and athleticism. It is particularly popular in Europe, Africa, Central and South America.
Its influence and popularity is increasingly growing in North America and Asia, and
WHEREAS, For decades, each Sunday at Myrtle Grove Park, residents, their
families and a host of diverse soccer enthusiasts join together for a day of fitness,
comradery and fellowship all centered on a love for the game of soccer and liberty, and
WHEREAS, As such, it is proposed that the City Council approve the hosting of
the 2nd Annual Jamaican Pre-Independence Day Amateur Soccer Tournament Sunday,
July 30, 2023 at Myrtle Grove Park and all waive all fees associated with the usage of the
City of Miami Gardens’ showmobile.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the use of the show mobile in-kind in support of 2nd Annual Jamaican
Pre-Independence Day Amateur Soccer Tournament Sunday, July 30, 2023 at Myrtle
Grove Park.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
