A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM
COUNCILMAN REGGIE LEONS’ PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIAL
EVENTS ACCOUNT IN THE AMOUNT OF ONE THOUSAND
DOLLARS ($1000), TO SUPPORT SHAKEVIA’S SICKLE CELL
ANEMIA FOUNDATION INCORPORATED INAUGURAL KICKS
FOR A CAUSE FUNDRAISING SNEAKER GALA; PROVIDING
FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, On Friday, September 15, 2023, Shakevia’s Sickle Cell Anemia
Foundation Incorporated will be hosting its Inaugural Kicks for a Cause Fundraising
Sneaker Gala. Kicks for a Cause aims to raise awareness and support for Sickle Cell
Anemia and help fund research. This event will bring together compassionate individuals
and organizations committed to making a positive impact in our community, and
WHEREAS, Councilman Reggie Leon believes in making a difference in the lives
of sickle cell patients. He believes that supporting the foundation will provide support for
patients and their families as well as advocate for better resources and health care, and
WHEREAS, Councilman Reggie Leon is requesting one thousand dollars ($1000)
from his Public Affairs Special Events account for the purpose of supporting the
Shakevia’s Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation Incorporated, Inaugural Kicks for a Cause
Fundraising Sneaker Gala,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby allocates funds from Seat 2 Public Affairs Special Events Account for one
thousand dollars ($1000), to support Shakevia’s Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation
Incorporated Inaugural Kicks for a Cause Fundraising Sneaker Gala.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS
AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON JULY 26, 2023.
