A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM
COUNCILWOMAN LINDA JULIEN'S SPECIAL EVENTS
ACCOUNT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED ONE THOUSAND
FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS ($1,400.00) FOR THE ANNUAL
OFF TO COLLEGE GIVEAWAY; PROVIDING FOR THE
ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Julien, in an effort to facilitate a successful event
would like to allocate two thousand five hundred dollars to the Annual Off to College
Giveaway, and
WHEREAS, this event is intended to assist young scholars in Miami Gardens that
are venturing off to colleges and universities throughout the state of Florida and abroad,
and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Julien recognizes the challenges that may come with
purchasing essential items like laptops, microwaves and refrigerators that are all
important to ensure success, especially as a freshman. In an effort to assist Miami
Gardens’ students that are leaving for college, the Annual Off to College Giveaway will
impact an estimated 30 incoming freshmen students, and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Julien is requesting an allocation of one thousand four
hundred dollars ($1,400.00) from Seat 5’s special events account to partially fund the
Annual Off to College Giveaway, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby supports the allocation of funds from Councilwoman Julien’s Special Events
Account in the amount of one thousand four hundred dollars ($1,400.00) to the Annual
Off to College Giveaway.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON JULY 26, 2023.
