HomeMy WebLinkAbout2023-105-1995_-_27th_Avenue_Pedestrian_Safety_Infrastructure_-_Adopted.docxRESOLUTION NO. 2023-105-1995 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO SECURE FUNDING FOR 27TH AVENUE PEDESTRIAN SAFETY INFRASTRUCTURE FUNDING; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Miami Gardens anticipates significant development to take place on its 27th Avenue Corridor, and WHEREAS, anticipated development includes the erection of a Performing Arts Center located on the eastern portion of vacant land behind the City’s City Hall building, and WHEREAS, vacant land located on the northeastern, 35-acre, portion of 27th Avenue will be developed privately to include additional housing, mixed-use structures, and entertainment for the benefit of the City of Miami Gardens residents and visitors, and WHEREAS, the development of this otherwise vacant property will increase pedestrian traffic along 27th Avenue and, thus, requires additional safety measures to be put in place to ensure public safety, and WHEREAS, Councilman Robert Stephens, III, recommends that the City Council direct the City Manager to secure funding for 27th Avenue Pedestrian Safety Infrastructure Funding, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens hereby directs the City Manager to secure funding for 27th Avenue Pedestrian Safety Infrastructure Funding. Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its final passage.
