A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO
ACCEPT THAT CERTAIN GRANT AWARD FROM THE
CHILDREN'S TRUST GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF SIX
HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($650,000.00)
FOR GRADES K-8 AT FOUR (4) COMMUNITY CENTERS;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO TAKE ANY AND ALL
STEPS NECESSARY TO ACCEPT GRANT FUNDS AND
ANNUAL RENEWALS DURING THE FIVE (5) YEAR CYCLE;
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Department applied for and has been
awarded a (5) year, $650,000 Children's Trust Grant, and
WHEREAS, the grant funding will serve 110 youth in grades K-8 at (4) community
centers for safe and engaging afterschool, winter, spring and summer camps, and
WHEREAS, activities will include but not be limited to transportation from school,
healthy snacks, homework assistance, tutoring, dance classes, tennis, STEM, junior
lifeguarding, financial literacy, and field trips,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the City to accept that certain grant award from The Children's Trust
Grant in the amount of Six Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars ($650,000.00) for grades
K-8 at four (4) community centers and authorizes the City Manager to take any and all
steps necessary to accept grant funds and annual renewals during the five (5) year cycle.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.

GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON JULY 26, 2023.
