HomeMy WebLinkAbout2019-197-3326 King's Wrecker Service Inc Towing and Storage (2) RESOLUTION NO. 2019-197-3326 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AWARDING CONTRACT SOLICITED UNDER REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL (RFP) NUMBER 18-19-015 TO KING'S WRECKER SERVICE, INC., FOR TOWING AND STORAGE SERVICES; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT FOR THIS PURPOSE; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Miami Gardens' Police Department and the Code Enforcement Division continues to require services for the towing, storage, and disposal of abandoned, unregistered, and junked vehicles, trailers, and boats that are in the right-of-way, streets, highways, public and private property throughout the City on an as needed basis, and WHEREAS, on July 2, 2019, Request for Proposal (RFP) Number 18-19-015 for Towing and Storage Services was solicited via Bidsync, and WHEREAS, the RFP was publicly opened on August 7, 2019, seven (7) proposals were received from Alpine Towing, Inc., d/b/a/ Galactic Towing, Boulevard Towing & Recovery, Inc., Downtown Towing Company, Inc., Kauff's Transportation Systems, King's Wrecker Service, Inc., Magic Towing and Recovery, Inc., and Sunshine Towing, Inc., and WHEREAS, an Evaluation Committee (EC) meeting was held on August 21, 2019, and the Evaluation Committee evaluated the proposals in accordance with the criteria in the RFP, and WHEREAS, the Evaluation Committee reviewed and determined all seven (7) firms were responsive and responsible to the requirements of the RFP, and WHEREAS, after evaluation and scoring, the Evaluation Committee deemed King's Wrecker Service, Inc., as the first-ranked firm and recommended them for award, Sunshine Towing, Inc. was ranked second and will be listed as the secondary vendor recommended for award to provide services if there is a termination with the first ranked firm, and WHEREAS, Staff recommends the City Council award RFP Number 18-19-015 to King's Wrecker Service, Inc., for Towing and Storage Services, and authorize the City Manager to negotiate and execute an agreement for this purpose, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens hereby awards contract solicited under Request for Proposal (RFP) Number 18-19-015 to King's Wrecker Service, Inc., for Towing and Storage Services; and authorizes the City Manager to execute an agreement for this purpose. Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its final passage.
