A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO.
2023-049-1939 WHICH ALLOCATED FUNDS FROM
COUNCILWOMAN LINDA JULIEN'S SPECIAL EVENTS
ACCOUNT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TWO THOUSAND
DOLLARS ($2,000.00), FOR THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF
REAL ESTATE BROKERS (NAREB) FOR NATIONAL FAIR
HOUSING MONTH; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on April 26, 2023, the City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
approved Resolution No. 2023-049-1939, allocating funds from Councilwoman Linda
Julien's Seat 5 Special Events Account in an amount not to exceed two thousand dollars
($2,000) to the organization National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB) as part
of National Fair Housing Month, and
WHEREAS, this allocation was intended to serve as a catalyst to ease the barrier
to home ownership in Miami Gardens, as the funding was to help increase the tax roll for
the City of Miami Gardens by providing closing cost assistance for the purchase of homes
in the Miami Gardens area, and
WHEREAS, NAREB has indicated that they will not be able to meet the September
30, 2023 deadline established by Resolution No. 2023-049-1939 for utilizing the funds,
and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Julien is requesting that the City Council rescind
Resolution No. 2023-049-1939, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby rescind Resolution No. 2023-049-1939 allocating funds from Councilwoman Linda
Julien's Seat 5 Special Events Account in an amount not to exceed two thousand dollars
($2,000) to the organization National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB).
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
