A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA REQUESTING APPROVAL FOR
THE ALLOCATION FROM MAYOR RODNEY HARRIS’ SPECIAL
EVENTS ACCOUNT IN THE AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
$8500.00 TO SUPPORT FIVE COMMUNITY-BASED
ORGANIZATIONS WITH A 501(C)(3) TAX DESIGNATION;
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Mayor Rodney Harris is requesting approval to donate the remaining
balance of $8500.00 from his Special events account to support the following community-
based organizations located within the City with 501(c)(3) tax designation, and
WHEREAS, the following five organizations will each receive a donation amount
of $1700.00; Sunshine Hearts, The Resource Room, SEEK Foundation, RJT Foundation
and Riverview Watchers Neighborhood Crime Watch, and
WHEREAS, Sunshine Hearts provides afterschool youth enrichment activities, as
well as tutoring and youth community service initiatives that enhance and support the
community, and
WHEREAS, The Resource Room provides afterschool youth enrichment activities,
summer programs and youth employment, as well as engage youth in advocacy initiatives
that support the education and safety of young people, the SEEK Foundation leads in
providing youth afterschool and summer programs focused on Science Technology
Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), and
WHEREAS, the RJT Foundation provides support and grief counseling for families
of murdered children in the City of Miami Gardens, and Riverview Watchers
Neighborhood Crime Watch is an organized collective of residents in the City of Miami
Gardens who volunteer their time to being additional eyes and ears for local Miami
Gardens Police Department (MGPD) regarding suspicious activities in their
neighborhood.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby approve the total allocation of $8500.00 from Mayor Rodney Harris’ Special

Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.

GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON SEPTEMBER 27, 2023.
