A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE RENEWAL
OF THE AGREEMENT WITH FLORIDA MUNICIPAL
INSURANCE TRUST (FMIT) FOR WORKERS'
COMPENSATION, GENERAL LIABILITY, PROPERTY AND
CASUALTY, AND AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE FOR FISCAL
YEAR 2023/2024; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO
EXCEED, TWO MILLION EIGHT HUNDRED AND EIGHTY
THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED AND THIRTY THREE DOLLARS
($2,880,733) FOR THIS PURPOSE; PROVIDING FOR THE
ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City engaged an agent of record/insurance broker to provide
professional services related to the City's Risk, Liability, and other related programs, and
WHEREAS, the Firm was tasked with providing a viable and very competitive
carrier for our Property, Automobile, Liability and Workers' Compensation program, and
WHEREAS, the insurance cost is Two Million Eight Hundred and Eighty Thousand
Seven Hundred and Thirty-Three Dollars ($2,880,733), and
WHEREAS, the City Workers' Compensation, General Liability, Property and
Casualty and Automobile Insurance policy is up for renewal October 1, 2023, and
WHEREAS, the City's General Liability, Property, Casualty and Automobile
Insurance is provided by FMIT, and
WHEREAS, Staff recommends payment of this obligation,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the renewal of the Agreement with Florida Municipal Insurance Trust
(FMIT) for Workers' Compensation, General Liability, Property and Casualty, and
Automobile Insurance for fiscal year 2023/2024. The City Council further authorizes the
City Manager to issue a purchase order, in an amount not to exceed, Two Million Eight

Hundred and Eighty Thousand Seven Hundred and Thirty-Three Dollars ($2,880,733) for
this purpose.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.

GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON SEPTEMBER 27, 2023.
