A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO APPLY FOR AND ACCEPT THAT CERTAIN
BEAUTIFICATION GRANT AWARD FROM THE FLORIDA
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION; AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER AND THE CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AND
ATTEST RESPECTIVELY A MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT
WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION; A COPY OF
WHICH IS ATTACHED HERETO TO AS EXHIBIT “A”;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO TAKE ANY AND ALL
STEPS NECESSARY TO ACCEPT GRANT FUNDS IN THE
AMOUNT OF ONE HUNDRED SIXTY-TWO THOUSAND FOUR
HUNDRED SEVENTY-SEVEN DOLLARS AND FIFTY CENTS
($162,477.50); AUTHORIZING IN-KIND MATCHING FUNDS IN
THE AMOUNT OF NINE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNFRED AND
FORTY FIVE DOLLARS ($9,845.00); PROVIDING
INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CITY CLERK PROVIDING FOR THE
ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on December 11, 2006, the City entered into a Maintenance
Agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation ("FDOT") whereby the City
would take over maintenance responsibilities for NW 27 Avenue, NW 183 Street and NW
2nd Avenue median landscaping, and
WHEREAS, the City is applying for a Beautification grant from the Florida
Department of Transportation for landscaping improvements along nine (9) landscape
medians and five (5) landscape buffers which will provide a natural screening for single
family homes adjacent to the service road and beautify the egress/ingress of the
neighboring community on NW 27 Avenue at NW 163 St, NW 160th St, NW 156th St and
NW 154th St, and
WHEREAS, the total project is estimated at $172,322.50. The City is requesting
$162,477.50 from FDOT and the City will match with an in-kind amount of $9,845.00, and
WHEREAS, it is recommended that the City Council authorize the City Manager
and City Clerk to execute and attest respectively the Beautification Grant Program
Agreement in acceptance of the grant award,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.

Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the City Manager to apply for and accept that certain Beautification
Grant Award from Florida Department of Transportation.
Section 3: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the City Manager and City Clerk to execute and attest respectively a
Memorandum of Agreement with the Department of Transportation and further authorizes
the City Manager to take any and all steps necessary to accept grant funds in the amount
of One Hundred Sixty-Two Thousand Four Hundred Seventy-Seven Dollars And Fifty
Cents ($162,477.50).
Section 4: INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CITY CLERK: The City Clerk is hereby
authorized to obtain two (2) fully executed copies of the subject Agreement with one to
be maintained by the City, and one to be delivered to Miami Dade County.
Section 5: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.

GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON SEPTEMBER 13, 2023.
