A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND
CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AND ATTEST, RESPECTIVELY,
THAT CERTAIN AWARD AGREEMENT WITH THE FLORIDA
DEPARTMENT OF LAW ENFORCEMENT FOR THE FISCAL
YEAR 2023 PROJECT SAFE NEIGHBORHOOD GRANT IN THE
AMOUNT OF EIGHTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($80,000), A
COPY OF WHICH IS ATTACHED HERETO AS “EXHIBIT A”;
PROVIDING FOR INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CITY CLERK;
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, violent crime diminish the quality of life of residents, visitors, and those
working with the City of Miami Gardens (“City”) and violent crime remains prevalent
throughout South Florida, and
WHEREAS, failure to prevent and reduce violent crime negatively impacts the
City’s reputation and revenue, and
WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (“FDLE”) will provide
Eighty Thousand Dollars ($80,000) in federal financial assistance to the City to reduce,
prevent, and prosecute violent criminal offenders, and
WHEREAS, with Project Safe Neighborhood (“PSN”) Grant funding, the Miami
Gardens Police Department (“MGPD”) will provide extra hours to ensure the cooperation
of victims and witnesses and their involvement in all court-related activities, and
WHEREAS, City Staff recommends that the City Council authorize the Mayor and
City Clerk to execute and attest, respectively, that certain Award Agreement with FDLE
for the Fiscal Year 2023 PSN Grant in the amount of Eighty Thousand Dollars ($80,000),
a copy of which is attached hereto as “Exhibit A”,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the Mayor and City Clerk to execute and attest, respectively, that
certain Award Agreement with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for the Fiscal
Year 2023 Project Safe Neighborhood Grant in the amount of Eighty Thousand Dollars
($80,000), a copy of which is attached hereto as “Exhibit A” .

Section 3: INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CITY CLERK: The City Clerk is hereby
authorized to obtain two (2) fully executed copies of the subject Agreement with one to
be maintained by the City, and one to be delivered to the Florida Department of Law
Enforcement.
Section 4: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
