A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION
OF FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS ($4,000.00) FROM MAYOR
RODNEY HARRIS' SPECIAL EVENTS ACCOUNT TO HOST
THANKSGIVING LUNCHEONS FOR MIAMI GARDENS'
SENIORS RESIDING AT THE HAMLET AT WALDEN POND AND
ROBERT SHARPE TOWERS. PROVIDING FOR THE
ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Mayor Rodney Harris is requesting an allocation of four thousand
dollars ($4,000.00) from his Special Events Account to host Thanksgiving Luncheons for
Miami Gardens’ seniors residing at The Hamlet at Walden Pond and Robert Sharpe
Towers, and
WHEREAS, our seniors are valued in the City of Miami Gardens, and
WHEREAS, as we approach the Thanksgiving season it's usually a time we all
cherish with family members and loved ones, however, quite often many of our seniors
who reside at senior housing facilities spend the holidays with no visitors, and
WHEREAS, Mayor Rodney Harris would like to share the spirit of thanksgiving with
food, music, fun activities and educational resources for seniors, and
WHEREAS, on Friday, November 17, 2023 at 12:00 PM, Mayor Rodney Harris will
host Thanksgiving luncheons at The Hamlet at Walden Pond (20855 NW 9th Court, Miami
Gardens, FL 33169) and on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 12:00 PM, at Robert Sharpe
Towers (103 NW 202 Terrace, Miami Gardens, FL 33169), both events will begin at 12
pm and is scheduled to end at 2 pm, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorize allocating four thousand dollars ($4,000.00) from Mayor Rodney Harris’
Special events account to host Thanksgiving Luncheons for Miami Gardens' seniors
residing at The Hamlet at Walden Pond and Robert Sharpe Towers.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
