A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM
COUNCILWOMAN LINDA JULIEN’S SEAT 5 FORMULA ONE
COMMUNITY BENEFIT ACCOUNT IN THE AMOUNT OF THREE
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($3,000) TO PROVIDE INTERNET
ACCESS TO THE STUDENTS OF ASPIRE PREPARATORY
ACADEMY; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Aspire Preparatory Academy, located in the dynamic City of Miami
Gardens, is a dedicated charter school committed to fostering lifelong learners, adept
problem-solvers, and independent critical thinkers, and
WHEREAS, the school's mission is to provide a unique and nurturing educational
program, centered on the unwavering pursuit of excellence, while focusing on fostering
students’ self-motivation and academic growth, and
WHEREAS, in today’s rapidly evolving world, where information is at our fingertips,
the digital divide has emerged as a significant barrier to educational equality, and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Julien believes internet access is not merely a
convenience; it is a fundamental right that ensures every student has an equal opportunity
to learn, explore, and excel academically as the internet serves as a gateway to a vast
array of educational materials, interactive learning platforms, and collaborative tools, and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Julien is requesting approval to allocate $3,000 from
the Seat 5 Formula One Community Benefit Account to provide internet access to the
students of Aspire Preparatory Academy,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorize the allocation of three thousand dollars ($3,000.00) from the Seat 5
Formula One Community Benefit Account to provide home internet access to the students
of Aspire Preparatory Academy.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
