A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM
COUNCILMAN STEPHENS’ SEAT 6 FORMULA ONE
COMMUNITY BENEFIT ACCOUNT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO
EXCEED THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($3,000) IN SUPPORT
OF PROJECT MEN, INC. AND NYAH PROJECT, INC.;
PROVIDING FOR INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CITY CLERK;
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Project Men is a nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching young
men the principles of manhood while empowering them to be persistent in their goal in
becoming men who are strong, inspirational, responsible and productive and pairing
them with mentors who are professionals, and
WHEREAS, since its inception in 2009, Project Men has served over 400 young
men who have had transformational changes in their lives such as graduating high
school, wanting to pursue higher education or skill and gaining the social emotional
skills to help them better manage life, and
WHEREAS, Nyah Project is a nonprofit organization that clears the pathway to
college for underrepresented students by providing training and tech-based tools that
remove the practical and systemic barriers to higher education, and
WHEREAS, since 2014, Nyah Project, Inc. have helped students unlock over
$26 million in scholarships with a 100% college matriculation and 98% scholarship
acquisition rate, and
WHEREAS, The Project Men Scholarship Gala and Nyah’s Project will celebrate
and empower outstanding local leaders and individuals in the community and award
scholarships to deserving students pursuing higher education with a gala/ceremony,
and
WHEREAS, Councilman Stephens is requesting funds from his Formula-1 Fund
account in the amount of $3,000 to support local non-profits, Project Men, Inc. and Nyah
Project, Inc.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.

Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the allocation of Three Thousand Dollars ($3,000.00) from the Seat 6
Formula One Community Benefit Account to support local non-profits, Project Men, Inc.
and Nyah Project, Inc.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.

AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON OCTOBER 25, 2023.
