A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, APPROVING OF THE DECEMBER
2022 CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS STATE HOUSING INITIATIVE
PARTNERSHIP (SHIP) AFFORDABLE HOUSING ADVISORY
COMMITTEE (AHAC) INCENTIVE STRATEGIES REVIEW
REPORT, A COPY OF WHICH IS ATTACHED HERETO AS
EXHIBIT “A”; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Chapter 420.9076, F.S., all communities that participate
in the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Program and receive over $350,000
in funding, are required to convene a Local Housing Advisory Committee (AHAC) to be
eligible for continued funding, and
WHEREAS, the Committee is required to annually review established policies,
procedures, ordinances, land development regulations, the adopted comprehensive plan,
eleven (11) affordable housing incentives specified in the statute and to recommend
actions or initiatives to the local governing body, to encourage recommendations on
affordable housing incentive strategies, and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Gardens has all but two (2) incentives in place,
WHEREAS, the AHAC held a public hearing meeting on November 1, 2023, to
discuss the Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) incentive strategy, and
WHEREAS, this recommendation, if any, will update the current affordable
housing incentives contained in the City’s Local Housing Assistance Plan (LHAP),
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby approves of the December 2022 City of Miami Gardens State Housing Initiative
Partnership (SHIP) Affordable Housing Advisory Committee (AHAC) incentive strategies
review report, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit “A”.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
