A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, APPROVING ADDITIONAL
FUNDING TO THE MIAMI GARDENS SMALL BUSINESS
INITIATIVE PROGRAM (“MGSBIP”), TO AID SMALL
BUSINESSES; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS REQUIRED BY THIS
GRANT PROCESS; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Gardens City Council approved the Business
Assistance Program to provide support to businesses within the community who would
have been significantly impacted in the last year, and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Gardens City Council approved Resolution No.
2021-019-3574 which approved an allocation of $80,000 to the Miami Gardens Small
Business Initiative Program (MGSBIP) to aid small businesses.
WHEREAS, the MGSBIP grant is designed to aid small businesses through a
working capital grant in support of their general operations, and
WHEREAS, this program provides a one-time grant to eligible Miami Gardens
small businesses, and
WHEREAS, to date all previous allocated funds have been utilized to provide a
one-time grant award to fifteen (15) businesses within the City of Miami Gardens out of
sixty-three (63) businesses who have applied for this grant, and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Linda Julien is requesting the City Council allocate an
additional eighty thousand dollars ($80,000) from the CARES ACT Small Business
allocation to MGSBIP in order to further meet the needs of the City of Miami Gardens
small business community,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby approves the allocations of an additional eighty thousand dollar ($80,000) from
the CARES ACT Small Business to the Miami Gardens Small Business Initiative Program.

Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.

GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON JUNE 9, 2021.
