A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION
OF NINE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS ($950.00) FROM
MAYOR RODNEY HARRIS' SPECIAL EVENTS ACCOUNT TO
COVER TRANSPORTATION SERVICES FOR THE MAYOR'S
ANNUAL CAMPING TRIP ON FEBRURAY 5, 2024, WITH
BARBARA HAWKINS ELEMENTARY. PROVIDING FOR THE
ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Mayor Rodney Harris is requesting an allocation of $950.00 dollars to
cover transportation cost associated with his annual youth camping trip, and
WHEREAS, this year's camping experience is scheduled for Monday, February 5,
2024, through Wednesday, February 7, 2024, and
WHEREAS, the Mayor's camping experience is in partnership with Barbara
Hawkins Elementary school, and
WHEREAS, the school's administration selects worthy 4th and 5th graders to
attend the camping experience; during the experience, the objectives are to guide the
student participants to learn teamwork, gain an appreciation for nature and its ecosystem,
learn survival skills, responsibility and self- awareness, and gain the ability problem-solve,
and
WHEREAS, these areas of personal development will not only be useful for our
youth during their camping experience but are transferable personal attributes that will
create lasting success for their lives through their daily application.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorize the allocation of $950.00 dollars from Mayor Rodney Harris’ Special
Events Account to cover transportation cost for the Mayor’s annual youth camping
experience.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
