A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM
COUNCILMAN REGGIE LEON’S FORMULA ONE COMMUNITY
FUND ACCOUNT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FIVE
HUNDRED AND THIRTY-NINE DOLLARS ($539) IN SUPPORT
OF THE 8TH ANNUAL MIAMI DADE COUNTY PUBLIC
SCHOOLS DISTRICT 1 BLACK HISTORY SHOWCASE;
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, On Tuesday, February 20, 2024 Miami Dade County Public Schools
District 1 will host its’ 8th annual Black History Showcase at Norland Senior High
School. Black History Month is a time to showcase and honor the contributions and
legacy of African Americans across the United States. From activist to civil rights
pioneers, the contributions made by African Americans shaped American history and
culture. Children are the future of our world, making education crucial for them. Their
knowledge is what’s going to keep our world alive. A good education is one of the best
opportunities a student has to reach their highest potential, and
WHEREAS, The 8th Annual District 1 Black History Showcase is an event that
focuses on talents, culture and contributions made by African Americans that the
students of District 1 schools will showcase through their artistic expression, and
WHEREAS, Councilman Reggie Leon is requesting a sponsorship not to exceed
five hundred and thirty-nine dollars ($539) from his Formula One Community fund
account for the purpose of supporting the 8th Annual District 1 Black History Showcase,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1:ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2:AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby allocates funds from Seat 2 Formula One Community fund account for five
hundred and thirty-nine dollars ($539.00), to support 8th Annual District 1 Black History
Showcase,
Section 3:EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS
AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON FEBRUARY 14, 2024.
