A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE USE OF
WALT FRAZIER PARK AND A WAIVER OF ALL COSTS
ASSOCIATED WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT FOR THE TRAYVON
MARTIN FOUNDATION 12th ANNUAL "PEACE WALK AND
PEACE TALK" EVENT TO BE HELD SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 3,
2024; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Trayvon Martin Foundation would like to return to the city to host
its twelfth annual "Peace Walk and Peace Talk" event on Saturday, February 3, 2024,
and
WHEREAS, the purpose of this event is to create awareness of how violent crime
impacts the families of the victims and provide support and advocacy for those families,
and
WHEREAS, the Foundation helps to increase public awareness of all forms of
racial, ethnic and gender profiling, as they educate youth on conflict resolution techniques
to reduce the incidences where confrontation between strangers turn deadly, and
WHEREAS, Mayor Rodney Harris is requesting approval for the Trayvon Martin
Foundation to utilize Walt Frazier Park and waiver of all costs associated with the use of
law enforcement for Saturday, February 3, 2024, from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the use of Walt Frazier Park and waiver of all costs associated with
law enforcement for the Trayvon Martin Foundation twelfth annual “Peace Walk and
Peace Talk”, on Saturday, February 3, 2024.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.

AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON JANUARY 24, 2024.
