A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER AND THE CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AND ATTEST
RESPECTIVELY, THAT CERTAIN AGREEMENT WITH THE
STATE OF FLORIDA, DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION IN
THE AMOUNT OF FIFTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS ($15,000)
FOR A LITTER CONTROL AND PREVENTION PROGRAM, A
COPY OF WHICH IS ATTACHED HERETO TO AS EXHIBIT “A”,
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ANY AND
ALL AGREEMENTS AND ATTENDANT DOCUMENTS AS A
RESULT OF THIS GRANT PROCESS; AUTHORIZING A MATCH
OF FUNDS; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Gardens has proposed projects through grants to
the Florida Department of Transportation and Keep America Beautiful, and
WHEREAS, the City applied and received an FDOT grant for one of the proposed
projects, and
WHEREAS, this is a $15,000 matching litter prevention grant award for the City,
and
WHEREAS, this grant will implement and provide funding for litter prevention and
control programs through a certified Keep America Beautiful (“KAB”) Affiliate at the local
level as Keep Miami Gardens Beautiful, and
WHEREAS, this is in conjunction with the National Keep America Beautiful Great
American Clean-up in an effort towards cleaning up local communities throughout the
State, and
WHEREAS, Grant funding will help sponsor litter prevention initiatives, bring
environmental awareness through demonstration/presentations and other educational
programs of engagement within the local community, and
WHEREAS, this grant also benefits our Stormwater Operations since trash, litter
and debris often reaches our stormwater system and waterways from developed and
populated areas if it is not sufficiently managed
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the City Manager and the City Clerk to execute and attest respectively,
that certain Agreement with the State of Florida, Department of Transportation in the
amount of Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($15,000.00) for a Litter Control and Prevention
Program, a copy of which is attached hereto to as Exhibit “A”. The City Council further
authorizes the City Manager to execute any and all agreements and attendant documents
as a result of this grant process, and authorizes a match of funds.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.

AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON JANUARY 10, 2024.
