A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION
OF ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1,000) FROM
COUNCILWOMAN SHANNON CAMPBELL’S PUBLIC AFFAIRS
SPECIAL EVENTS ACCOUNT IN SUPPORT OF THE ALPHA
KAPPA ALPHA SORORITY INCORPORATED 2024 INAUGURAL
CLUSTER FOUNDERS’ CHILDHOOD HUNGER INITIATIVE
POWER PACK SERVICE PROGRAMS AND SCHOLARSHIPS
TO BE HELD ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 9TH -11TH, 2024;
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the service programs of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated are
consistently centered around significant issues that affect society, and
WHEREAS, this tradition of service and social activism continues to be the
hallmark of the sorority and its members in our respective communities and around the
globe since 1908, and
WHEREAS, the weekend will unite members to reaffirm the commitment to
providing “Service to All Mankind” within our communities, and
WHEREAS, Childhood Hunger Initiative Power Pack bags will provide meals for
elementary school-aged students in school districts in the Miami Gardens area, and
WHEREAS, scholarships will be awarded to high school-aged students in school
districts in the Miami Gardens area,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorize the allocation of one thousand dollars ($1,000) form the Seat 1 Public
Affairs Account in support of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, Childhood Hunger
Initiative Power Pack Program.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
