A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO RELY ON THAT
CERTAIN SOURCEWELL MASTER AGREEMENT #092722
THAT HAS BEEN COMPETITIVELY SOLICITED , AND
EXECUTE PARTICIPATING ADDENDUM AND ISSUE
PURCHASE ORDERS NOT TO EXCEED THE ANNUAL
AMOUNT IN QUOTE #Q494215-45327.838AP, FOR A TOTAL OF
ONE MILLION THIRTY-NINE THOUSAND EIGHT
($1,039,008.00) TO AXON ENTERPRISE INC. FOR A TERM OF
FIVE (5) YEARS FOR TASERS FOR THE POLICE
DEPARTMENT PURSUANT TO SECTION 2-757(B)(2) OF THE
PROCUREMENT CODE; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, studies have estimated that between 15 and 20 precent of arrests
involve a use of force, and
WHEREAS, if an officer is not equipped with a Taser, they would have to resort to
soft hand tactics and hard hand tactics (e.g. using kicks or punches to restrain suspect),
and
WHEREAS, these tactics, are necessary to make an arrest by officers, more than
doubled the odds of officer injury, and
WHEREAS, hands-on tactics also increased the odds of injury to suspects, and
WHEREAS, THE City of Miami Gardens Police Department desires to piggyback
competitively solicited Sourcewell government co-op master contract #092722 to
purchase new Tasers 10 equipment by utilization of the agreement with Axon Enterprise
Inc. (AEI) for 200 all-digital Taser devices for police officers, and
WHEREAS, it is recommended that the City Council approves the purchase of new
Tasers 10 equipment from the Sourcewell Master agreement and authorize the City
Manager to execute participating addendum, related documents and issue purchase
orders not to exceed the annual amount stated in Quote Q-494215-45327.836AP2 for a
total of One Million Thirty-Nine Thousand and Eight Dollars ($1,039,008.00) over the
duration of the five (5) term agreement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.

Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the City Manager to rely on that certain Sourcewell master agreement
#092722 that has been competitively solicited and execute participating addendum and
to issue purchase orders not to exceed the annual amount stated in Quote Q-494215-
45327.836AP2 for a total of One Million Thirty-nine Thousand and Eight Dollars
($1,039,008.00) to Axon Enterprise, Inc. for a term of five (5) years for Tasers for the
Police Department pursuant to Section 2-757(B)(2) of the procurement code.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
