A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, RENAMING NW 187TH STREET,
BETWEEN NW 32ND AVENUE AND NW 34TH COURT AS
“CHIEF HALL WAY”; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
CHANGE THE STREET SIGNAGE; PROVIDING FOR THE
ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Vice Mayor Katrina Wilson, in recognition of Miami Carol City Senior
High School and its proud Alumni, wishes to rename NW 187th Street from 32nd Avenue
to NW 34th Court to “Chief Hall Way”, and
WHEREAS, Section 34-233 of the City of Miami Gardens Code of Ordinance
outlines the process for renaming and codesignating streets. In addition, section 44-
233(b)(10) provides the Mayor and members of the City Council may sponsor a
Resolution for the renaming or codesignation of a street, and
WHEREAS, Established in 1963, Miami Carol City Senior High School has
continuously expanded its academic offerings to include a diverse array of programs.
Notably, they have a renowned Law Magnet, Criminal Justice Program and an advanced
Automotive Technology Engineering program in partnership with TESLA and other
Electric Car manufacturers, and
WHEREAS, Vice Mayor Wilson is recommending that the City Council approve the
attached Resolution renaming NW 187th Street from 32nd Avenue to NW 34th Court to
“Chief Hall Way” and directing the City Manager to take all steps necessary to change the
street signage reflecting the new designation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the renaming NW 187th Street from 32nd Avenue to NW 34th Court to
“Chief Hall Way” and directing the City Manager to take all steps necessary to change the
street signage reflecting the new designation.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
