A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM
COUNCILWOMAN LINDA JULIEN'S PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIAL
EVENT ACCOUNT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TEN
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($10,000), FOR THE HAITIAN
HERITAGE MONTH KICKOFF CELEBRATION; PROVIDING
FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, several states throughout the country commemorate Haitian Heritage
Month, which recognizes the valuable contributions made by Haitians to world history,
and
WHEREAS, Haitian Heritage Month provides an important opportunity to celebrate
and honor the diverse heritage and achievements of the Haitian people, fostering
understanding and appreciation among all members of our community, and
WHEREAS, to commemorate Haitian Heritage Month Councilwoman Linda Julien
is sponsoring a Haitian Heritage Month Kickoff Celebration, in the amount of ten thousand
dollars ($10,000), and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Julien is requesting an allocation of ten thousand
dollars ($10,000) from the Seat 5 Public Affairs Special Event account for the Haitian
Heritage Month Kickoff Celebration, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorize the allocation of funds from Seat 5 Public Affairs Special Event Account
in the amount of ten thousand dollars ($10,000) for the Haitian Heritage Month Kickoff
Celebration.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS
AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON APRIL 10, 2024.
