Staff Summary: The attached ordinance calls for the General Election for the City of Miami Gardens, Florida, to take place, Tuesday, August 14, 2012, with the State of Florida’s Primary Election. At which time a Mayor for ITEM I-1) ORDINANCE SECOND READING Calling the 2012 Genral Election 1515 NW 167 Street, Building 5 Suite 200 Miami Gardens, Florida 33169 the City of Miami Gardens, will be elected for a four (4) year term; a council member for Residential Area Seat One (1), will be elected for a four (4) year term; a council member for Residential Area Seat three (3), will be elected for a four (4) year term and a council member for at‐large Seat Five (5), will be elected for a four (4) year term. This ordinance also provides for the closing of Election Books (registered voters) t take place July 16, 2012. The qualifying of candidates will begin, Tuesday, May 15, 2012 and end Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at 4:00 p.m. sharp! A Run‐Off Election, if necessary will take place, Tuesday, November 6, 2012. Proposed Action: That the City Council adopts the proposed ordinance calling for the City of Miami Gardens General Election for Tuesday, August 14, 2012.
